Scene 1 - The Capture of Enoch
The old wizard ran for his life through the dark and treacherous forest. Above his right hand Enoch enclosed inside a brilliant sphere of water his ancient manuscripts, books containing the true history of the world as well a powerful magical incantations. As it hovered over his open palm it blazed brightly as if the water were made of flames producing light to guide him through the menacing wood. The manuscripts, some tattered and stained, lay protected in the elemental safeguard. Clutched in his opposite hand was his staff. A magnificent pearl gripped in the wood of the first tree. A great hand complete with wrist and forearm that bent at the elbow. The fingers stretched and twisted as they wrapped around this heart of the ocean.
The arm belonged to the enchanter's eldest friend, Grover, the first mangrove tree to pierce the surface of the Ocean of Life many millennium ago. As the mangrove took its first breathe it brought with it a relic of wisdom. An enormous pearl that seemed to encase a universe of its own. An orb painted with a galaxy of stars of all colors.
Grover plucked his arm, still holding the wondrous pearl, and gave it to Enoch before expanding into whats now known as the Isle of Mangroves. It was beautiful magic. The wise mangrove's body and consciousness spread between the other trees creating the first island. A paradise spawning new life living harmoniously above the confines of the ocean. As the wizard watched his friend leave this wonderful legacy a flower sprouted from the nub of Grover's arm. A bright red flower glowing with the setting sun bloomed to reveal a creature. Small was the scaled body curled innocently in the center. Spectacular yellow eyes looked to Enoch as vibrant as the sun before it hides beneath the horizon. From head to tail it was the width of his hand. Its wings stretched out, enjoying the open air of this new world. They reached out to one another and with a light touch the creature transformed with a pure white hue into the likeness of Grover.
The wizard remembered as he caught a glimpse of the moon through the trees above. Many a year it has been since this enchanter came into the forest of mystery. He came upon a fork in the path and the way was unclear to him. He spoke under his breathe and the light of the burning water intensified. With little time Enoch looked down each dark path for only a moment before he made his decision. Ryu, the changeling from the flower, could barely keep hold of his shoulder as the weary old man made haste down the winding path through the dark and dangerous forest.
The path twisted and turned until they came upon an clearing. A massive white tree stood center, almost as wide as it was tall. The wizard had been there before. He had chosen the wrong path; a testament of the forest of mystery. There was no time to turn back.
With his enemy was almost upon him Enoch again spoke under his breath in the words of old. His golden guide of treasured literature floated across the clearing towards a large boulder. Like a pebble in water it passed through solid stone embedding itself deep within the granite.
The wizard took up his staff and eyed the pearl one last time. Its magnificence was marvelous to behold. A shooting star, a brilliant blue he had to see, trailed across its surface for an instant and was gone. With no time for thought he spoke to the white tree. "Will ye hold thy wisdom? For no beast shall yield its power."
The great white wood creaked as it split its large trunk to reveal a hiding place for the staff. The old mage quickly climbed in and placed the staff inside. With a gentle embrace the tree wove itself around the staff. With a warm glow the great tree grew taller and wider. The old magic of the wise pearl strengthened its defenses. The old man whispered old words and a veil of silver haze cast itself onto both the boulder and the white wood.
In relief Enoch fell to his knees. With great pain he looked to his shoulder. A pair of kind yellow eyes met his and a sense of longing come over him. Their gaze locked for a what seemed like a lifetime. Ryu saw into the wizards mind and knew what he must do. A single tear fell from the creature onto Enoch. With a sunlight glow Ryu changed into its original scaly dragon form. She expanded her wings and flew from his shoulder to the tallest limb of the great white wood.
An ominous figure emerged from the twisted path. Tall and terrible, it approached the old man. Horrible shrieks filled his ears as an enormous dark pressure thickened the air. Bound by black cloth the faceless shadow floated ever closer. "Long have you bathed in light." The voice pierced the wizards mind. "Too long have I waited in the shadows feared and hated."
"Never hate," the old man assured. "I have not the will to hate-"
"Lies," interrupted the dark figure. "For a thousand years I have longed for the affection of my creator. A millennia alone and unwanted."
"I failed you. I'm sorry Erebus-" tried the wizard.
"I do not answer to that name," shrieked the shadow man. "Your light is fading and darkness shall spread. Time has come for Aeron to reign over all."
Scene 2 - The Birth of Lite
1000 years have passed. The forest of the dead as it is now referred to has long since been explored by man. Few have braved these woods in fear of never returning for the forest is flush with cunning beasts. The white wood, long guarded by the magical creature Ryu, now sprouts a large white lily budding from one if its large roots above ground. The sheer size of this tree flower would perplex even the most experienced apothecaries of the world.
Ryu, as she has for many seasons, has nurtured the enormous young flower. A subtle movement catches her eye and the giant petals slowly opened to reveal an infant child.
With hair the color of the old wizard's the boy reminded Ryu of his old friend. Wrapped around the boy was a long tail covered in hair to match his head. One end attached to the child and the other attached to the flower much like an umbilical cord from mother to offspring.
Swelled with emotion, Ryu gathered the child. With a razor sharp claw she severed the connection to the flower. The child, helpless and innocent gripped Ryu's forefinger with his tail.
Such strength for so small a thing.
As she searched her heart for what to call this child of magic the flower, once the boys incubator, adjusted itself into a fine cradle. Twilight was upon them and she lay the infant gently into his new home to rest. Several petals wrapped around the him tightly keeping him safe and warm. Ryu's thoughts switched to the old wizard and the name dawned on her.
"Welcome, Lite." she spoke in the language of old. "Bright is your star in a sea of darkness"
Continuation of Scene 2/Scene 3
15 years have passed though you would not know it to look at Lite. Still as small and innocent as a normal 5 year old yet three times as adventurous and bold he could speak enough in the old tongue to be understood by the wildlife nearby. With Ryu ever watchful, he navigates the menacing wood with ease. None dare to harm him and suffer the wrath of the guardian dragon, queen of the forest. Standing 3 meters tall, Ryu towered over the largest beasts.
Magic, being second nature to the child, aided him in the art of mischief. Lite loved to poke fun at the irregularly large lions that den in a nearby cave. Annoyed and irritated the lions resolve were tested by the boy. He'd pull there tails or levitate a stick to poke them and giggle obnoxiously when they look around puzzled. Sometimes he would gather static as he walked and shock the young cubs and roar as they ran away startled by the electric charge. Amused by Lite, one small cub named Aizen took a liking to him. At an early age he was under the assumption that Lite was part of the pride as he went unchallenged by the adults.
The runt cubs father died before the birth of his litter; black sickness from a river salmon that had yet to show signs of infection. With the sickness spreading, the lioness were forced to explore outside the safety of the wood in order to feed the pride. His mother and elder siblings had been poached for their thick hide during a hunt.
Orphaned and believed to be cursed, the pride resented the runt. Lite was the only soul to befriend him and they became inseparable. The lily that long sheltered to child shed its largest petals creating a soft bedding for the young lion cub, gifting it with abnormally long life over the years. Along with this the ability to speak.
Now the age of 45 Lite appears a young handsome man with muscle tone that depicts a boy with a healthy work ethic. His best friend, Aizen, as he called him now the size of a full grown alpha lay asleep atop of mound of white lily petals, unwithered and fragrant like the first rain of spring.
A few yards away sits a large hole open straight into the earth. Inside houses a nest for Ryu so large she could stretch out her wings with room to spare. From out of the soil, blossoms a large assortment of multicolored lily's from the deep roots of the white wood. During the night, Ryu transforms into a beautiful woman, voluptuously curved with long golden hair flowing down to her backside. Covered only by plant life she slumbers without damaging the wonderful gift from the white wood.
Dawn would soon come as Lite gazes at the stars in wonder of the outside world. Having never left the confines of the forest he has never met another human. The immaculate form of Ryu during the night is unparalleled and unnatural. Lite knows this, yet his body ached in the excitement and anticipation of a woman's beauty. Aizen's friendship and loyalty stands unbreakable, yet their clear differences in appearance and skill reminded him daily of the loneliness in his heart.
As his eyes wonder the skies a shooting star streaks accross the milky way. A brilliant blue. In his heart he wishes to meet his love. Someone to share in his adventures in the forest as well as his bed in the lily.
Aizen was a well enough partner causing a ruckus with the gorillas or the centaurs but lacked a frame built for stealth. They would always get caught by the hysterical hippos or the crazed koalas. It's hard to miss a double sized lion.
Ryu's always worried about everything. Never having fun and always dealing with inter species disputes. Most of all she worried about being a good mother to Lite. Having raised him since birth, they share a strong connection through memory and magic. Lite would have never survived without her...
