Thread Painting of A Popular Nigeria Female Artist - Bukunmi (String Art - Nail and Thread on a Board)

This is another master piece from my string Art collections. This piece took me over 100 hours, over 2000 nails and over 500 Meters of thread.

The interesting but painful part of this art piece story was that it wasn't commissioned I did it freely as a fan art for a popular female celebrity, also as a gift to be presented on her birthday. I have never for once met her or have any connection with her, all I depend on back then to reach her was social media. All I believed was that, when I post it on my Instagram page, with the help of friends repost and tags I will be able to reach her and she will probably get to see it and appreciate it. And yes, she got to see it and reposted it on her Instagram story. I thought that was it, I slide into her DM to let her know I'm willing to give the piece to her freely without any pay. But no reply. I even went as far as reaching out to her close pal, that her in industry with her but to no avail.

I had to give up on reaching her because every attempt ended up being fruitless and it really hurts. Just imagine the hours spent to achieve this piece. Well I was atleast glad that she got to see the piece and went on reposting the screenshot on her story. I just felt bad that the work wasn't given a proper recongination.

That was the last time I did a fan art for celebrity, because I get to realize I'm probably just bothering them with what they aren't really interested in. And the fact that they are celeb they probably have enough fan art or they don't even have space to accommodate more. And probably some assumed visual Artist that try give them fan art are really after what they will get back as an appreciation. But my case as a visual Artist was different, all I wanted was just a proper recongination of the art piece and probably a proper repost. Well it all good now,I learnt my lesson, besides the whole effort put in only made me a better version of my self instead.
