Joshua became the leader of the people of Israel to lead them to the promised land by mandate of God,and in the process of conquest of that land had to face many battles, one of them after the conquest of Jericho and Hai was Gibeon, many of the kings were afraid by the power of God shown in his town and joined together to defeat the city of Gibeon 5 Amorite kings because they had made peace with Israel.

The enemies of Israel fleeing and God rained gardes stones which wounded and more were injured by the spiedrs that the children of Israel killed with the sword Then spake Joshua to God to stop the sun in Gibeon and the moon in Ajalon until all had been avenged itself on its enemies.(Joshua 10:1-13).
