I'd burn it to the ground and start over.
Well okay, that's putting it a bit strongly, but I really do think there are some fundamental problems that I don't know are solvable. Sometimes an experiment winds up being a cautionary tale, meant to help others, but a lost cause for those directly involved.
First, we have genocide of the indigenous peoples that has never been fully addressed, and certainly not rectified. Then we have a system or racial capitalism that was brought here from Europe, where the Irish were some of its first victims (of which I am aware) and the Africans the most severe here on these shores. That also has not been addressed and taken responsibility for. There is still denial about the degree of harm done that continues to echo through the centuries.
Yet our police state comes from that. Our disenfranchisement of even the "privileged" poor whites, stems from that. The denial of value to any labor that doesn't feed that beast of racial capitalism is also a part of that.
I could go on and on. There is no readiness I see in this country to even begin acknowledging any of what I've said is true, let along starting the work of healing these wounds.
That's why I'm actually leaving. But for those of you trapped here, good luck with all that.
