After my post 2 days ago, I took a full 1 day break from Hive. I haven't done this for a very long time and it felt good for me. Maybe I will share the reasons in one of my next posts because today we will try to survive! We continue our This War of Mine adventure. I hope you are enjoying the series. It's a lot of fun for me both to play and to share it with you.
Day 18
We woke up under attack! We used 3 bullets to fend them off. Fortunately Roman found many more last night, but if you remember it was a very risky night. And we found a lot of food, enough for at least a couple of days. In that time I hope to be able to start a vegetable garden. Bruno went to help our neighbor in the last episode and he brought us some resources, but not exactly what we need.
Today on the radio there was a report that it is easier to find cigarettes and tobacco again. This is good news, now we can exchange cigarettes for cheaper ones, and since all the people in our shelter are addicted to smoking, I also want to make them happy sometimes.
Today we had a very different visitor from the others. A woman called Cveta came and said that she used to be a principal at a primary school. Now she is very afraid of being alone and wants to stay with us. Obviously we don't have the resources for 4 people at the moment, so I refused her, but she stayed at the door and begged us. I'm not that heartless so I took her home, I hope she has something useful.
Unfortunately, she has no useful qualities at all. She can take care of the children, but there are no children in the house. I wish she could at least cheer up the household lol. And she is sick. I will have to use medicine to cure her.
At night I decided to go to the small apartment building that I already cleared of bandits in the previous episode. Roman should rest a bit so I'll go with Arica. There's still a lot of stuff there that I can use.
There are still so many things I need here! Look what I found when my bag was full. 2 broken guitars, helmet, cigarettes, alcohol. I need more of these things because even if I don't use them they will be very valuable for me in the trade.
I have to come back here again and have a saw and a crowbar with me. I wonder what's in this locked place. I'm sure there are more weapons or supplies.
Day 19
I immediately start repairing the broken stone, which will help us take less damage from attackers if we stay in the house and will make me more resilient when I take it with me. It will probably keep me from dying all at once. And a rat is trapped in the trap! The good news keeps coming.
Another one that caught me off guard! It's going to get colder, and you know what that means, my friends? Winter is coming. Winter will change some mechanics in the game. I'll tell you about them in due time. I need firewood now!
Right now I have too many medicines and ammunition, so I can easily give them up. Food, fuel and supplies are my most urgent needs. I need to build the vegetable garden as soon as possible or I will have food problems in the winter. The barter man came just in time and we made some great trades.
Immediately after the exchange I started building the herb garden. I need to upgrade it so I can grow vegetables. Of course I will do that as soon as possible.
The heat lamp is one of the materials I need to develop the herb garden. I started to build it right away.
At night I will go to the small apartment building again. I have taken the saw and crowbar I need. I hope I will find some valuable things there.
I looted the place very calmly and look in my bag. You didn't expect to see so many boards together, did you? But I have a lot to build.
Day 20
Cveta hasn't recovered since she came home. She was on a herbal remedy before and now she's on her second one. I hope this will help her because we mustn't use any more stocks of medicine. We will need them in difficult times.
Thanks to those boards I brought I can now turn my herb garden into a vegetable garden and I do it without hesitation boom!
The news is true. I filled the stove to the top to heat the shelter and it barely got warm inside. In cold weather the people in the shelter naturally get sick and the stove is the only way to prevent that. In the future I might think of improving it, but for now I have to make do with this.
I need 72 hours and 10 waters to grow 4 vegetables. I better start as soon as possible!
This construction has used up all my materials and now I can't even make an axe. Fortunately there was no bad news on the radio today and nothing else remarkable happened at the shelter.
At night I decided to go back to the Samuel institute with Roman, I forgot what was there, maybe I'll find something useful, who knows?
The people in the institute were running around in an absurd panic all the time. I couldn't tell if they were friendly or thugs and it was very annoying. I found some medicine and left and I don't plan to go back.
That's enough for today, my friends! It was another good episode and I think the most important moment of this episode was Cveta joining the shelter. Am I happy about it? I'm not because she hasn't contributed much to the shelter so far. I haven't seen any positive action from her and her bag is small so it doesn't make sense to go looting with her.
