This upcoming Monday is another important day for our family. My daughter, Katsuki, will start her classes as a third year college student. Sometimes I just sit quietly and think, where did all the years go? Time really fly so fast. It feels like yesterday she was only a little girl asking me to hold her hand all the time.
Me and my husband were not able to finish our studies. We became parents while we were still very young, so life became different for us. There were many dreams that we had to put aside. But now, after all those years of hard work and sacrifices, we are getting closer to seeing one of our biggest dreams. Just a little more patience and maybe we will have our first college graduate in the family. That thought alone makes me very proud.
Because I became a young mom, many people still think that Katsuki and I are sisters. We always smile whenever someone says that. We enjoy walking together around our place.
She likes collecting flowers that she finds beside the road. Instead of throwing them away after they dry, she carefully pressed them inside a paper and even made a nice design. Now it is hanging in her room as a simple decoration. I think it is beautiful because it came from her own creativity.
She also loves Honey Butter chips. This time her younger brother bought one for her. It was just a simple snack but it made her smile. My children don't always agree with each other. Sometimes they argue over small things like normal siblings. But seeing them care for each other reminds me that all the lessons we tried to teach them was not wasted.
Our youngest daughter was also very happy because her aunt gave them chocolates before leaving. The chocolates disappeared very fast because everyone wanted to taste them. My sister-in-law has a very kind heart. She always thinks about her family before herself. She sacrificed many things just to help the people she loves. I really admire her, because people like her are becoming very rare these days.
They say that a mother is the light of the home and the father is the strong foundation. For me, our children are the reason why that light never goes out. They give us strength every single day. Even if life is hard sometimes, they remind us to keep moving forward.
As this upcoming Monday gets closer, I know I will miss some of our bonding moments. But I also know that every step Katsuki takes is bringing her closer to her dreams. As her mother, that is enough to make my heart full.
Thank you, Lord, for giving us another chance to witness this new chapter. And thank you also to everyone who continues to love and support our family in many simple ways. Sometimes happiness is not expensive. It can be found in dried flowers, a favorite snack, chocolates from a loving aunt, and the dream of seeing your child wear a graduation toga one day.
