After a long phone call with her mom and a longer drawn out call with her sister, my wife hurried off to Home Goods.
If you aren't familiar with Home Goods, don't feel uninformed. Neither am I. It's the kind of store you go to find homey items, as far as I can gather. This episode all happened yesterday (Saturday) morning, and thank goodness it did.
It gave me something to work on this weekend that wasn't on my radar. Not on my agenda at all, to be frank. But what was I going to do anyhow, now that California is back on lockdown?
Probably not a whole lot besides sit out in the sun on our patio and browse different HIVE feeds. In retrospect, it feels good to have our dining room decor completed. Now we can move on to our family room and upstairs areas.
And it didn't hurt too much, either. The lady had a $100 gift cert and only spent double that amount. $100 to finish the kitchen and dining area isn't too bad.
Better Pics Than I First Thought
Today I snapped a few images in preparation for this post and thought I'd missed the before pics again. I had forgotten, however, that my wife needed pics of the areas to fill while she was out shopping. So I do have the before images.
This picture best shows off the area above the fridge and oven, as seen in the feature image. My wife had our son Devin hang plates along the top white strip of drywall. She found the Cook sign that nicely breaks up the pattern of plates as well.
Coming up, you'll see the California painting she bought to hang in the bathroom hallway. It's the short dark corridor in the image above to the far left.
These before and after pics don't show the area as well as they could. You can see the addition of some artwork on the zoomed in After pic. Also, the California painting hides in the hallway shadows.
There it is in better lighting. A cute bit of work that shows a different take on the State we live in.
Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall - It's Selfie Time!
Our dining room isn't small in size, but the mirror helps make it appear to be even larger. It's also perfect for selfie time! Perhaps it's hung a bit low for my height, but that's where the lady wants it.
These pics also show off the new bird cage that came along with Dash, the newest addition to our family. I'll be writing about her quirky demeanor soon enough.
Last but not least, we are in a quandry over the Starry Night picture. My wife also brought home a painting of the USA and all continental States. We were thinking of switching it out and putting the Van Gogh rendition somewhere else.
What do you think?
Thanks for your time and as always...
