Emancipate Yourself! The USA Could Use More Bob Marley
It's really no wonder as I've grown up and watched the world unfold around me, that the words of Bob Marley have become a mantra of sorts.
For as long as I can remember being sentient, I've been witness to the uglier side of human thinking. It started at an early age watching my parent's constant struggle with each other.
With each loss of innocence I experienced, another sadder truth about the human condition was revealed. We're all losing another part of that innocence we hold onto so dearly watching events unfold in the USA the past few weeks. Months really!
Many of our leaders have shown themselves as who they really are. They were always wolves in sheep's clothing longing for the power and money, but rarely honoring their oaths to serve the people.
And so it goes as it always has since people have lived together in communities, states, and countries. The uneducated rely on immediate gratification and bow to their own emotions. It's also a trait of the young who are more apt to act on impulse.
As a society, we have so many leaders gone before us who's teaching should light our way. Martin Luther King was one such man. For myself, Bob put the message to music as one that I could understand.
We are all slaves to our own minds. It's only there that freedom truly begins. I'll leave the rest for Bob to explain. Maybe you'll hear the message too, cause all I ever have....
"Emancipate Yourself From Mental Slavery
None But Ourselves Can Free Our Mind
Have No Fear For Atomic Energy
Cause None Of Them Can Stop The Time"
"How long shall they kill our prophets
While we stand aside and look?
Some say it's just a part of it
We've got to fulfill the book
Won't you help to sing
Another song of freedom
Cause all I ever have
Redemption Songs
These songs of freedom
