I have made a number of updates to the HAT sidechain, since my last update 20 days ago. A brief summary is below.
HAT block explorer: https://hat-view-testnet.imwatsi.com/
custom csv parser
I created a custom CSV parser for transactions broadcasted on the HAT sidechain. (all transactions' raw data is broadcast in CSV format)
account balance logic
I implemented account balance logic for tokens. Account queries now retrieve actual account balances.

account authorities (public keys)
I also implemented the retrieval of accounts' authorities (from Hive)
token generation operation
There's now a new operation supported, gen which triggers the genesis of new tokens. Properties like initial_supply are passed using this operation.
global token properties
Global token properties like balances are now live and real. These show the top level info of the main HAT token's supply, and other created tokens as well. The screenshots below show the info from the explorer
What's next
We're getting close to having a public testnet that you can create tokens on. I still have to implement the various token types (which I am working on now).
I am also working on an app that I will release soon (this month hopefully), that will leverage an HAT token. It will be on testnet initially while I develop the protocol, but I will make it available for public beta so Hive users can test the tokenomics and stuff. It will store post data on Hive (I will probably get a Hive testnet up for that too).
