It was an ordinary day for Rebecca as she wandered down the leaf strewn street. It was autumn and she always enjoyed kicking up at the leaves lying on the ground.
There were so many colours this year. Rebecca was enthralled by them as she couldn’t recall them being so bright.
She had heard that with the current COVID19 situation and all of the subsequent factories closing down and the fact there was hardly a car on the road that as a result the pollution levels had dropped. Maybe this is why things seemed so much brighter.
She could after all see the mountains in the distance and that hadn’t happened in her memory before. In fact as she looked at them she couldn’t ever remember seeing them before. Oh’ she knew they were there because people had spoken about them her whole life, but to actually see them.
Rebecca decided to take a seat and just sit and stare at the mountains in the distance. This is wonderful she thought, absolutely wonderful.
In this moment of reflection Rebecca started to notice many things, there were more Birds in the Trees, the grass seemed greener and the Air. The air seemed much sweeter, she took a deep breath, and easier to take in.
Rebecca sat there breathing in the air, something she had never consciously done before, but this was different, it was marvelous to take in this air and to savor every breath.
Suddenly she became aware of an almost frantic pulling on her jean legs. Rebecca had been so taken in by all of these new found delights that she hadn’t noticed anything else.
She looked down , and there at her feet was a small ball of fluff with eyes looking up at her with a pleading urgency that carried a definite message. ‘WILL YOU PLEASE GET OFF MY TAIL’ the Cocker spaniel was saying,
Rebecca looked further and indeed she had sat down and placed her foot on this dog’s tail without even realising it.
She promptly Got Off the tails and the dog gave her a smile of relief and bounced to the other side of the park where there was 2 children playing.
