The Pumpkin patch was slowly taking over the whole of the backyard and I really couldn’t see how I was going to get released from this overwhelming green march.
I realised that if I acted quickly I might just be able to sneak past the ever engulfing tendrils as they , what seemed , quite quickly started to move towards what was the only retreat I could see.
I dashed forwards believing that if I moved quickly enough I would make it, Alas this was not to be.
I was quickly swallowed up by the umbrella sized leaves and I could feel the tendrils gripping my arms and legs as a Boa Constrictor, squeezing ever harder the more I tried to free myself.
Out of the corner of y eye I could see the bright orange of a Flower bursting towards me, spraying yellow pollen as it came, I closed my eyes thinking that I would never be able to survive such an onslaught.
My foot kicked something hard to my left, It gave a thud sound. I opened my eyes gingerly and looked down. What I saw was one of the most magnificent blue pumpkins I have ever seen, perhaps, I thought, if I could hook my foot around that magnificent beast I would be able to use it as an anchor of sorts to allow me to pull myself out of this sea of green.
I hooked my feet around it and pulled as hard as I could. At first the Pumpkin was being pulled towards me and it did not feel like this was going to be my savior.
Then eventually I felt the vine grab and my pulling started to pull me towards it. My hope was that if the Pumpkin was so large there must be an opening in the sea of overhead leaves that I would be able to get my head above the canopy I was enshrouded by and that burst of light, that blessing of sun and air would give me the strength to emerge from this cocoon and breath life again.
I reached the beast and sure enough the light shone through, As I had hoped I was able to emerge into the world again like a newborn with the vigor and energy of a survivor.
The Patch had not been successful in conquering me but sadly to say I don’t think the shed has as much hope
