It was a dull noise that could be heard through the walls of the attic.
Peter thought that it was a noise he had heard before but was not able to place its origin.
He passed the thought and continued with his search for those pictures he knew Marie would be happy to see.
Box after box he searched, my goodness there were some memories in those boxes.
The weekend he and Marie had spent on the shores of lake Nuance and then the night they spent starring into the stars.
All these memories were well worth treasuring and Peter was so happy that he could relive them through the photographs and the journal entries that he was now revisiting.
There is that noise again, this time it was getting louder and louder and he was becoming quite distracted by it.
No, I must keep looking he said to himself. He rummaged through another box and this time was reminded of the 3 months they spent in Paris and the many walks along Parisian streets in the moonlight. The many Cups of Coffee at riverside café’s and the Wine, oh the wine, so red and rich , from the southern provinces.
Whisked away with the memories he realised that the sound was being melded with his heartbeat and his emotions were being stirred. Peter found himself starting to move as if he was dancing and remembered the joy he and Marie used to have when they spent many a night dancing the hours away.
Push on, push on, Peter told himself, those pictures have to be somewhere.
He dug into one of the old trunks that he knew went on their journey’s together and had a Trinidad sticker on it and there buried deep was the photo he was looking for.
Aha, he said out aloud, This will teach Marie to never doubt me again, he rushed downstairs, clambering over the magnitude of clutter that had been collected over many years of hoarding, dashed through the lounge room door and promptly stumbled over those old steel drums that Marie had brought in from the neighbors Trash so many years ago
