David awoke that morning feeling a little different
There was nothing that he could put his finger on, the Pod he lived in was the same, It was the same for everyone at his employment level
David was a level 3 eye technician for the corporation and all level 3’s had identical living quarters.
There was the bed area, which when not being used folded up and became the dining table and desk with the built-in screen on the wall, which when the bed was folded down was underneath the bed itself.
The kitchenette consisted of a waste bin only, as all food preparation was conducted by the corporation’s kitchen and sent to the pods via the chute. You did get to choose your meal each day, usually from a choice o0f 3. This did give each individual the notion that they had choices to make and could make their own decisions.
The shower cubicle was in the left corner, it was a dry shower so there was no need for plumbing, and the door to the pod was adjacent to the bed.
David’s surroundings were the same as they ever were, Yet David felt different.
Without another thought, David rose out of bed, pushed the frame back into the upright position freeing his dining table, which also automatically turned on the Screen which started to spew out Propaganda and went to the food Shute to order breakfast.
He chose his usual oatmeal and coffee and waited for the breakfast to appear.
Yet David still felt different
The meal appeared but also in the Shute was a silver box.
This was highly unusual, adding to David’s uneasiness of feeling different.
Oh No David thought, not more corporation propaganda, David knew very well what was in the Box. The silver boxes always brought with them a Corporation stamped Disc. These discs were personalized because all other propaganda was relayed through the screens and to receive a Disc meant that the Corporation had singled him out for something.
David grabbed the Disc and placed it into the slot just below the screen.
The corporations Log appeared on the screen and then the appointed Resources staff member appeared.

David suddenly realised what was different.
He was thinking, and he also remembered what Remembering day would bring
