My view of using social media as a means of measuring wealth changed when I saw a profile of a rich friend. His profile was not loud, he used a very old photo, he made random posts and very less photos of the lifestyle. You can't tell his financial status from his socials.
Now comparing to show-offs who go extra to getting loans to fund their lifestyle. I came across a Facebook post this morning where a user was dragging a debtor over the loan she collected, from what she said, she has been collecting several loans. Her photos and username was included in the post, which I checked her profile she is a very classy girl with expensive wears and lifestyle. I don't trust what people say while dragging though, cos they can add up to make people buy their stories. But it seems people in the comment section knew the debtor better, someone even jokingly said "she collect loan of 70k to buy asoebi, then collect another of 130k to sew corset".
The level of pressure social media has on young people these few years is alarming. I somehow love how it has made a lot of people to sit up and work, but some have gone Extreme to make this wealth. I pity some young guys who are into these stressful site works, they lift blocks, mix cements and take lots of loads to get small cash, a lot of young guys save up these money from several works to buy an expensive jacket of 30k-50k they saw someone wear on the internet.
If I didn't know who Mark Zuckerberg was, I would probably push him out my way cos of how simple their lifestyle is. If I had such wealth I'm not sure I would keep it that cool, I would drive to my room.
The lifestyle people try to follow has taken a lot down. Many young people had millions, but they tried to attain a lifestyle they can't maintain, they are now bragging with their past, "I used to...". It is much better to be financially comfortable than getting to a lifestyle that won't last.
