Laughter is truly the best costume pain wore, they laugh at different jokes not knowing someone was drowning. Many people are just good at hiding their pains, they have different reasons for that while some don't even know why they do so.
A typical scenario is social media, we see a lot of content creators make contents which make us smile while watching, but most of them are battling problems and sickness. A real example I saw was on socials, this lady made a post on her socials begging Nigerians to please donate money for her that she is battling with cancer, and she said something like stage 4 cancer. We all doubted because when she came on live with a doctor it was seen that the symptoms she talked of wasn't fully similar to a stage 4 cancer patient.
Other creators asked her to bring a legit medical report or return the money they all donated, she came out to boldly say she won't return a dime, she laughed while at it. She was sued to court, and we all know the back and forth and the extensions of court cases. We barely heard about the case, months later it was discovered that she is in a very terrible situation and people are willing to donate now.
People hide their pains in laughter for various reasons, some people are conserved, they don't like sharing their problems with others, they just hope to solve it by themselves without bothering anyone.
My neighbor, a young man of mid 30's had a loving married wife with his wife. We all became so close because of how jovial he was, he sends me on an errand most times and I just attend to him without thinking much about it. In his workplace, people call him lazy, that was just a name attached to him. We also confirmed this when he went to fetch water some houses from his, and he had to take a bike home rather than just walk down, we all laughed about it.
He was sick at one point and taken to the hospital, the wife came home with a x-ray scan results. I can't recall the medical condition he had, but the don'ts he was given was, " don't carry heavy things, don't involve in activities that will stress you much". We never knew, he never said it, the wife just discovered about it that day in the hospital. When ever people teases him with the name, Lazy man he just laughs and calls them by their name, we never knew the laughter carried so many pain.
We received a call the next, she said her husband is gone. She said, he just told me "Thank you for all you've done in my Life..." These death statements always sound familiar. I don't know why he chose to hide the pain he was passing through, maybe he had his personal reasons. I know Some people don't like all those sympathisers with their, " oh so sorry" they just keep it low. But if you are in pain try and share it, you might be one step from getting free from it.
