Today I'm going to tell you about Balasarswati Bhartnatyam Dancer
(13 May 1918 - 9 February 1984)
She was awarded Padmbhushan and Padmavibhushan by the Government of India.
Balasaraswati was a 7th generation of representative of a traditional matrilineal family of temple musicians and dancers (Devdasi)
They created new revolution in traditional music and costume of Bhartnatyam.
Balasarswati recived numerous awards in India, like Sangit natak Niketan Sangita Kalanidhi from the Madras Music Academy, South India's highest award for musicians. In a review in 1977, the New York Times dance critic Anna Kisselgoff described her as one of the "supreme performing artists in the world".
