We can say that the participation of women in politics is slightly increasing, but it is not the level of satisfaction. There are various challenges in the way of political participation of women. The gender inequality, lack of economic rights for women, lack of political consciousness among women, sexual violence against women, illiteracy of women, government’s negligence to promote women rights etc are the major obstacles for women’s political participation. As the measures to counter these problems that women should also be made confident & conscious for their own political rights. All national & state level political parties should give chances to women for participating in electoral process. It is government & non-government organizations responsibility to protect & promote the rights of women. Importance should also be given to women’s education. The proposed reservation policy on electoral process should also be implemented in assembly & parliamentary elections to increase the numbers of women representtor.
The presence of women in decision making levels will bring a different thoughts by a female perspective to the political arena. Therefore, to achieve the healthy democratic spare the women participation in politics is highly needed.
