Being broke is not a good thing, but to some people like me it's inevitable, being broke differs to people. Some might have millions in their account but still say they are broke, while brokenness to some people is when they have no dime on them, that's exactly where I belong, I believe it's until I'm having little cash on me before I can say am broke.
Being broke is different from being poor, in this case it's about not having money on you for sometime, not usually not long and I believe no matter how broke we are there's still a way to get food to our mouth.
Ofcourse food is a necessity, but there are some things I rather go hungry for just to get, these are things that being broke cannot stop me from buying.
- DATA
As a typical Nigerian, data subscription is one of the things I can spend my last card on, I make sure I get new data subscription before it expires.
According to research Nigeria is the country with the most social media engagement in Africa, a typical Nigerian will definitely get data subscription with his/her last than eat.
Everytime my salary comes in, there's a specific amount I set aside for data subscription that not even hunger can make me spend out of it. Apart from deriving pleasure from it, there are also financial benefits I derive from it, even with my data on there's hope that money would come in and I won't starve for the night.
Surfing through the internet is enough food to satisfy me, as Long as there's constant electricity supply or power bank.
- HAIR CREAM
Suprised right?, this is one of the things I don't joke with even am broke, I once suffered from dandruff and I happen to keep a low-cut all times, so I know how important is it for me to always have my hair cream ready at all times in order to keep my hair and beards in order.
It might sounds weird but actually true, I take care of my hair and beards like a baby, I could remember the last hair cream I have is up eight (8) with different brands, and different functions.
- VIEWING CENTRE
Watching football is my hubby, there are countless times I would sleep hungry just to watch my team play. While I was in school, my roommate and I would set aside money to watch matches, no matter how broke we are, we will rather buy things on credit than use the last money to feed.
Before the removal of subsidy, I spend my weekends in viewing centre, while I watch all matches, but recently the subsidy issue has affected the price to increase, so I just watch my team's football match and some derby one's.
- BANANA
Banana is a fruit I love so much right from when I was young, my grandma was a fruit seller before she died, she would harvest lots of fruit from her farm in the village every month to sell in the city, and keep for us to consume too, but while others are busy eating all the fruits, I would only take only banana and that's all.
Funniest thing is that I don't like any other things made from banana, or plantain but I love taking banana fruit raw, I always reserve part of money no matter how little it is to get bananas.
