English Version

Yesterday, our home once again dressed itself in celebration. Just a week ago we were singing happy birthday to my grandmother, and as if time wanted to gift us double the joy, this time it was my maternal grandfather blowing out his 75 candles.

And I say “gift” very intentionally, because not everyone has the blessing of continuing to celebrate life alongside the people they love. Being able to sit next to him, see him smile, listen to him… that’s something you can’t buy, can’t repeat, and can only be deeply grateful for.

As usual for me, I couldn’t let the day pass without a homemade detail. This cake was born in the quiet of the early morning, taking advantage of a moment when the electricity was on and everything seemed to align. I decided to step a bit outside the traditional and mixed condensed milk with crushed peanuts for the filling, and topped it with boiled condensed milk and a chocolate coating. The result… a total success. The kind of dessert that disappears quickly because everyone wants seconds.

I also wanted to bring a little more life into the house, so I invited my friend Yessica and her little girl, who filled every corner with laughter. We made a toast with beer, shared a homemade crema de vie, and between conversations, stories, and affection, the afternoon slowly turned into one of those moments that feel simple, yet truly meaningful.

This time, there were photos… plenty of them. Of the table, the cake, the toasts, the shared laughter. Photos I’ll keep and also share, because they tell the story of a beautiful day. But the ones many would consider the most important are missing: the photos of my grandfather. There was no way to convince him. He doesn’t like cameras, social media, or posing.
And that’s okay.

Because in the end, I realized that not everything needs to be shown to be valuable. There are presences that don’t fit into a picture, people who prefer to stay out of the frame but deeply within our hearts.
