They tell you not to speak out much
They tell you not to talk too much
They tell you that you're too outspoken
They not to speak in the gathering of elders
They tell you not to look them in the eye
They tell you to keep quiet while they speak
They caution you not to ask too much questions
They tell you not to play with peer groups
Now I am quiet, you tell me that I'm dumb
Now, I'm shy, you tell me that I am a coward
Now I'm Agoraphobic, you tell me that I'm a babe
Now I stop asking questions, you tell me that I'm not inquisitive
Now, I play with gangsters, you tell me I am trouble
I would rather choose my path
I would rather hearken to my inner mind
I would rather pay attention to myself and stop listening to fools
For these same fools would only complain thereafter
