I'm getting itchy, and since the card values are perpetually stagnating until the end of time or people stop wasting the 1dec to list cards, it's a great time to burn an all time favorite legendary from the vault.
One thing I can tell you though, for certain, is that card prices are trending towards values that corresponds with the cards respective burn value.... AKA - The cards absolute floor price.
Sell or burn, it technically doesn't matter.
I have been involved since shortly after the launch of the Steemmonsters game which later became Splinterlands, and I noticed even the beta cards are around the prices they were at about 5 years ago... Some cards are even lower than the initial release value... Its kinda sad.
I can buy this guy for $8.
I loved this card. It was one of the best cards when released and you couldn't get it for under $10.
During the 2019 pump? Or maybe it was 2020? 2018?
Whenever it was - I sold multiple of these guys for 200$ a piece.
It was a different time.
And now, at $8... I don't want it. Yes, a different time and a different game.
What happened?
Too many cash grabs??? <--- Wink, wink. Yeah probably...
I remember the hype with land, and that super fun Tower defense game that everyone forgot to develop and now its what... dead? Soulkeep - Yeah thats it.
I liked that game but WTF? The abandoned plans over the past 5 years...
Land? WTF?
Dedicated SPS chain? WTF?
Validator Nodes? Lisences for $5K!!!? WTF?
Remember - the people didn't give up on the game, the game gave up on the people.
It was a fun project...
So, Lets look at a legendary from the last editions of splinterlands cards that I actually gave a fuck about.
CHAOS LEGION>
I was so pumped when that new edition came out. I was definitely one of those shmucks that paid like $2k for a 100packs for the 10% pack bonus... Yeah I did that... then I did it again.
I remember being so excited to get this legendary.
Funny thing is that burning it is basically selling it at current market price.
There are multiple for sale at 0.48$ - or 570DEC. Selling at 0.47$ and paying the fees is essentially the same as just directly receiving the 500 for burning....
It's basically the exact same as when it started over 5years ago - just with more cards and more things to buy.
But - I do hope for better times. Thats why I keep staking and restaking and continue to invest peanuts into SPS.
I think SPS can have a future... Or maybe its a pipe dream that has lasted too long...
Regardless, I will keep faith the team will figure out something and this game will blow up into something worth talking about again.
In the meantime - I will randomly stop back and burn a card from time to time.
Take care Hive - Good luck. Keep on Keepin on.
