The great victories you see around began long before the trophies, public recognition, and the applause. It actually began in the mind. Before you will become a champion in your academics, in business, career, and even life in general, you have to win the battle of the mind. What you think in your mind will affect your attitude towards life, and will also influence your actions, then it will build your destiny and your future. For you to win on the outside, then you have to understand that the first step is to win on the inside. In fact, the mind has the power to either launch you forward or limit your advancement. A lot of the things that people experience in life are the results of what they think predominantly. If you tell yourself "I can do this," your body will be conditioned to follow suit, and you will see yourself doing it. When an opportunity comes your way, your mind will be what will interpret it as an opportunity, because most times it may not look like it. What differentiates success and failure may just be something as overlooked as the mindset. Your belief, which also includes your thoughts, carries more potency than the action itself. In order to win in your mind, you need to develop a positive and growth mentality. That is, always see things from the positive point of view. It does not matter what happens or the situation that life brings to you, if you are positively orientated, you will still see that there will be a good side to it, at least something that can serve as an opportunity to do something great. For example, if you experienced a rejection where you applied for a work, it might prompt you to develop yourself the more, instead of just sitting and sulking over the rejection. When you have developed yourself, you will become sought after, or it might even lead you to start up your own business. You will agree with me that you need confidence for a lot of things you want to achieve. But confidence itself is built in the mind before it manifests outside. There was a time one of my friends had a presentation to make. She was so scared of it because she normally had stage fright. When she told us, we encouraged her. She prepared for it, but much more than that, she also rehearsed. I organised a group friends and then asked her to do a demo presentation, so she can feel comfortable ahead of the day of the presentation. This built her confidence from within and it gave her a boost. On the day of the presentation, we came around to support her. When she saw it, she felt so happy. So she went in with the confidence, and she did excellently well. You have to learn to manage your thoughts intentionally. That is, know what you permit in your mind and what you do not. It is true that you are given a mind of your own to think, but you are still responsible for your thoughts. It is true that there are times when negative voices can rise up inside your mind; voices like fear, doubt, uncertainty, comparison, etc. At that point, if you allow them, they will weaken you. But it is your duty to rise against such thoughts. Then replace the destructive thoughts with good ones. For example, instead of thinking that you are not good enough, you should rather replace the thoughts with "I am improving on a daily basis." This will help you to shift your mindset from negative and make it became positively orientated. To win in the mind, you also need vision and clarity. When you know what you want and the reason why you want it, it will make your focus sharper. This will also make distractions to lose their power over you. When you are clear about your vision, you are less likely to quit. This is because your mind will be focused on it, and you will see yourself pursuing after it.
