There is much to be said about the ego and its many forms. Everyone, has an ego until it is shunted. We can see and hear the ego's presence. This occurs as "i", "me" and "my."
We can never experience true blessings with an ego. As the ego will somehow warp the inner warriors actions as being the cause of the blessing.
The ego inhibits the true gifts that are given. We see that Christ had shunned the notion that He is good. "Why thou callst good? There is no other good than above." And when disciples called Him master, it was nearly the same response. These two non-verbatim examples give insight in what was trying to be conveyed.
Its a paradox really. No ego, knowing we are nothing and yet we are something. One can be certain that being devoided of ego is difficult, takes time and practice.
A teacher recently said, remove all intrinsic i,me,my from thought and vocabulary. The universe is not one sole possession rather it is shared among all creation. Each one being a small speck of sand on the beach, hairs upon a head, stars in the sky. Each make up the whole. Everyone has a portion.
The greatest gift we can bestow upon earth is to know our true self, this can never be done with the ego.
Exercise;
Remove I , me, my from thought and vocabulary. Try performing day to day life without criticizing another. Instead try to understand their place, bridge the gap. Altercations should they occur should be fought to be resolved (in place of right/wrong).
