Before this computer I was using an Alienware 18, that one was almost 10 years old! It lasted me a very long time, so I decided to go with an Alienware again, hope this new one also lasts me 10 more years!
The specs are as follows:
- RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200mhz
- CPU: i7 11800H
- GPU: RTX 3070 (laptop version)
- SSD: 1TB NVME
I have noticed that I will need more storage and more RAM. I work with virtual machines a lot, and I have noticed this new laptop often gets near 15GB of used RAM. I also installed a few games, but nowadays every game is around 100GB or more! I intalled a few just to test and it used up half of my SSD!
I just bought it, so I will try to keep using with the factory components, but as I work and game maybe I will see the need to upgrade the RAM. I am thinking of getting any 2TB ssd just to store files, virtual machines and games, and upgrade the RAM to 32GB.
I think that after this upgrade this new machine will very likely last almost 10 years, like the one I had before this new one.
Hope Dell has kept up the durability!
