With a constantly growing population and an increasing urban population one of our big society challenges will be to constantly and efficiently provide food to cities.  Can we still afford to fly food across continents without further harming the environment?

Farming is rapidly being transformed through converging technologies. Hydroponics, aquaponics and aeroponics as key developments to enable new types of farms, vertical farms, with more efficiencies and targeted production.

Digital technologies like IoT, AI and AR are now complementing these vertical farms with improved monitoring and fine tuning capabilities.

Vertical farms are now entering a mass market phase and you can already find container based solutions for easy and quick setup. Hundreds of plant types have already been grown with these type of solutions.

Producing locally within the city will reduce waste and CO2 emission from less overseas transport providing more sustainable and eco-friendly approaches to farming. The modularity of these solutions will also allow us to grow what we want and where we need it. Honk-king is showcasing a great example here!

The future of farming is smart and vertical.

The vertical farm is also adopted in Dubai. We do not even mention the positive impact on environment.
