Unsettled New Week

Oh la la! It's been a really wet Monday. And the forecast said it's going to be like this for days due to the combined impact of a tropical depression (Luis) and Habagat (southwest monsoon) throughout the northern part of the country (including Manila).

With weather like this, it would have been nice if we stayed in BC, but we left the windows here in DD open, so we had to come back yesterday evening. It's good though, because the technician from the auto shop dropped by this morning to remeasure the truck and confirm the design.

We thought about going for a drive, but the incessant rains changed our minds, as traversing the highways can be risky. So, we would be mostly indoors for a few days (which may stretch to the weekend), it seems. The old me would already be feeling low with such weather, but that's not the case, at least not anymore. In fact, we are welcoming this season differently. If the forecast holds, we would treat the days like we were on a much-needed home-staycation.

Anyhow, while (doom)scrolling for something interesting in the afternoon, I discovered found a little hack that made my old Samsung phone run faster. I was skeptical at first, but went for it anyway.

Previously, the phone was too slow to respond, even when merely opening or closing the browser or any app. I thought it was probably because the last system update was a few years back, plus there were a couple of apps running. But after the tiny change, it now works better (smoother). The trick? Turn on Developer Options by tapping Build Number 7 times, then change the Animation Scale to 0.5x (it was originally set to 1x). I'm not sure if this works on most Android models, but it certainly worked on my 7-year-old phone.

And yes, I turned off the Developer Options soon after. Who knows if someone might try to access more than they should, lol!

"How about the internet speed, did it go a lot faster too?" the husband asked with a wide grin when I told him about it. Such a tease😅 But I think he'll be asking me to try it on his old unit.
