Welcoming the new week in DD with lovely weather鈥攂lue skies and generous sunshine. No patches of white clouds up there, so it appears that we will have a really bright Monday.
Anyhow, a first cousin is back home from Down Under (Australia). He vacationed two years ago with his wife, but this time, he is alone (they got divorced). While we didn't get to see or visit him while we were in BC, we got a share of his pasalubongs, all thanks to Dad, who dislikes chocolate with nuts, and he knew exactly who to give them to. Yay to my sweet tooth!
My preferences are the nutty ones. I love the perfect crunch of roasted almonds, hazelnuts, or macadamias mixed with rich, smooth, and creamy chocolate. I almost finished the almond bar while the hubby tried to find a safe parking spot yesterday afternoon.馃榿
Meanwhile, a new favorite snack came in a 794g yellow pack, all thanks to my sister for introducing it to us. She often buys imported goods, and these zesty lemon-flavored treats are just one of them.
The crunchy biscotti are perfect for nibbling with a hot cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. The zesty lemon taste is a nice surprise, and the light sweetness is just right. The confectioner's icing doesn't overwhelm.
The cookies are light and crisp (not super-hard). They are bite-sized, making them easy to snap or eat straight out of the bag. The label says it has no added preservatives, artificial flavors, or colorants, so that's a plus. The citrusy aroma is nice to the nostrils too!
The tart lemon zest flavor is refreshing, especially on a hot day. My mouth watered at the thought of pairing it with chilled drinks instead of a hot beverage. It would be interesting to try that out later today.
