Magandang buhay馃挍
'Tis a sunny Monday in DD, yay!
Three laid-back days went by, and today should be different. My muscles are already aching to get active after being idle for quite a while. A physical workout is a must, especially since the morning walks had been paused on the weekend.
My stained gloves from our painting job last week are still lying outside, waiting to be cleaned (re: discarded). They have been soaked in the rain in the afternoons and dried by the sun in the mornings since Thursday. Yet the red paint still looked as though it were blood splattered on both pairs and even on the paint can (hence the gray-scaled photo).
Using solvent-based paints is the last thing I would want (the thinners in them are stinky, and they are messy and not washable), but the hardware shop recommended them to prevent the metal cladding from rusting. Not much of a choice, eh! (We did not consider the rusting when we purchased the metal frames).
Anyway, the new week calls for productivity, of completing postponed tasks. So handiwork it is! Filling the gaps and perhaps starting to install the patio roof (if the rain doesn't come early). With the wet season upon us, we feel it is necessary to keep most of the area a little drier.
Then there is the detached carport that needs to be built, although it might have to wait for a bit. Not having one means more rainwater stains and paint damage on the truck and the old car. But we are rethinking the use of metal frames, which are not pre-painted. We wouldn't wish to do the stinky painting again.
My brother suggested using tubular steel frames instead. While they are quite costly, they are rust-resistant and weather-proof. Going for it calls for additional budget. But it also means savings in the long run (lesser maintenance and/or repairs).
Oh well, we obviously have a winner馃榿 And thank goodness we are our own handymen, lol!
