Lazy Day No More

My plan for a lazy Wednesday turned out differently, as it was a bit productive. It was mostly hot, but I spent most of it in the shade. We harvested the leafy lettuce (romaine) in the morning even though most hadn't formed heads, reorganized the hydro table, and replaced the cups with new lettuce seedlings.

I then decided to sow some Pavito Pechay or Bok Choy seeds into three new seeding trays.

This is my first time growing this type of vegetable, and I was glad the seeds were coated so they were visible when dropped into the holes, which made sowing quicker. The label says that the germination period is 2-3 days, so I hope to see tiny greens by the weekend, or at least early next week.

My LilGuy stayed on the couch, refusing to have his sleepwear removed.馃榿 I guess he felt comfy in it. It might be keeping him warm, especially since I have trimmed his coat a lot shorter when we were in BC. He did allow me take it off before lunchtime.

Meanwhile, a few of the green ice sown last week on another tray started to show up. I expected most of them to have germinated by now, but they seem to be taking their time under the soil.

Brandon hadn't watered them while we were away. We learned he had been gallivanting elsewhere instead of tending his crops, so we were very disappointed. Before we left last week, we made it clear he should hill up the potatoes before they grew tall, but when we returned, he barely started the job, even though we gave him money to hire his friends to help him.

"Geez, he gives me stress!" I complained to the hubby, who remained quiet, probably thinking about what to do with the guy.

Oops, I digressed.

Anyway, I am glad most of the water spinach (Kangkong) had sprouted. I may have buried some too deep, so they are still curled up underneath the dark soil. But I believe all will be out by tomorrow.

I was done at 3 pm, and I took the chance to give my little furball a good bath. As usual, he stayed wrapped in a towel to dry himself naturally (he hates the hair dryer).

The hubby, on the other hand, spent most of his time cleaning the power sprayer after they used it to spray the overgrown grass and weeds on the hillside. So yeah, quite a productive and fulfilling midweek for both of us. Alas, no wasted hours! It's nice to have gotten our DD groove back a lot quicker than we anticipated.
