"Darn, can't you see we are busy? Can't you be a little more considerate and leave right now so we can continue with what we are doing?" That was me talking in my mind when I noticed that the field sales rep who came in the morning hadn't left yet, and was taking the husband hostage with his endless marketing talks.
He has been here before, and the Farmboy was hypnotized by his sales talk and bought a gallon of foliar fertilizer worth a little over $300, which, until now, hasn't been used. And since then, he occasionally comes by and bombards us with more offers.
A voice inside my head said he is just doing his job, so I shouldn't be too harsh on him. Yeah, yeah. Why am I so disagreeable today? Realizing that made me feel a bit guilty, even when the conversation only happened in my mind. I was ready to shake the thought off when the guy peeked through the greenhouse door and said hello. "Oh, hi! The weather's not good, and you're working hard," I teased. "Yes. If we don't need to eat, I would be still in bed right now," he said, laughing.
"Haha, if only," I laughed too. And before I knew it, I was out of the shade, and joined them in their conversation. Through him, we learned that many crops (especially potatoes), and vegetable farmlands have been damaged by the prolonged rains. Sadly, that is one of the challenges faced by farmers year on year.
Anyway, he thanked and wished us well then left to visit another farm. "Oh geez, I thought he would never leave. I wouldn't know how to tell him we are busy," the hubby said afterward, heaving a sigh of relief. That made me giggle, remembering what was on my mind earlier.
But yep, I was glad my inner voice corrected the initial thought of trying to dismiss the guy because we had a job to do. Well, I suppose it isn't just me doing that at times?
