All week long I have been stressing about bugs. For a change, NOT SEEING ANY! But now I was on the hunt. I did not want to be left out of this fun ecoTrain activity. Today, I had to take my compost out to the neighborhood communal trash area (Boulder collects compost!), I decided to spend a little extra time looking closely at some of the neighbor's planted areas. All I expected were bees. Lots of bees. But would you believe, the first place I looked there were no bees, but there was this little guy(?) munching away on these mums. I think they are mums, but very likely I'm wrong. Not an expert at all. He was so happy under the petals gorging himself. Does anyone know what beetle this is?. I tried to get close ups with my phone of as much of him as was possible to access. I wonder how long he will stay there? Will he crawl off with purpose, or simply fall when he's so stuffed he can't cling upside down anymore. I will never know.
Enjoy the pics :)
