This Pillbox (military) is located along the beach in Trienggadeng; Pidie Jaya Regency, one of the coastal areas on Sumatra Island, which directly borders the Malacca Strait. The existence of this old building is often used as a photo object for visitors who are enjoying the panoramic view of the beach here, including me, who is visiting it for the first time.
For us here, this building is a trace of history when Japan occupied Indonesia in 1942 (Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies) and chose strategic beaches as its stronghold at that time. As a result, the local authorities decided to make this area a tourism destination.
Different types of defensive fortifications can be found here. Particularly in the spaces between each structure. Each form serves a different purpose, of course. I'm not certain about this, though, as I'm only a fan of ancient buildings and a photographer, not a history exper.
And this is another form of fortification; the space between each building becomes a marker of other functions at that time.
This beach tourist location is always busy with visitors during holidays while posing proudly against the background of the fort as a trace of local history.
