You pick the left tunnel and continue walking. This area of the cave seemed to be covered in water. This was not that shocking with how close the underground lake was. It did however make it a bit harder to walk as you would sometimes slip around a bit on the rocky floor.
As you walked further along you started to notice some strange symbols on the walls. They seemed to be rather primitive and unlike the ones found written on electronic paper. These symbols once you start to get a better look at them appear to be pictographs depicting perhaps the natives of this moon at one point in time.
As you went further along so as well did the pictographs. It started off showing some rather basic things. There was one with a campfire, some people holding sticks. Some of these pictographs seemed to show even the hunting cycles of different creatures on this planet.
One pictograph, in particular, showed this massive three-headed beast that had nine different tusks sticking out of its skulls. Its legs were bright red while the rest of the creature was painted black. It was also a lot taller than the humanoid-shaped creature next to it.
The humanoids in these pictographs were quite a bit different than the ones on earth. They seemed to have an irregular height to the length of their arms. They also had quite stubby legs. Their faces were also more oval in shape with almost a beak for a noise.
After walking for a while they stopped hunting with just wooden sticks and started to attach rocks to the ends of sticks. They were also hunting a lot more than just the strange tusked animal. An entire section of the pictographs seemed dedicated to showing over 50 different creatures.
At one point the pictographs seemed to be showing a cave. Possibly the very one you were in. There was even a lake in it. A large chunk of that pictograph however seemed to have been faded away or perhaps even removed.
Even further along the aliens started to build huts out of the trees. There was yet another section that seemed to be a deep dive into the different building architectures that were being used from different periods.
It seems someone even managed to build a nine-story tall tower. It was shown to be massive compared to all the other hut-looking buildings in the background. It also showed the sun shining right down on it from the heavens.
There was then another large gap. You thought perhaps that was it of the pictographs as you continued to walk along. There was a very short set now depicting what appeared to be a massive war between different tribes on this moon.
There was yet another long pause to further pictographs before they started to appear again on the wall. This time it seemed like the tribe that was keeping this timeline going was back to the basics of everything.
The giant nine-story tower has been destroyed along with just about everything else they had built. This made you feel somewhat sad and even angry a bit about what had transpired on this moon at some point in time.
They were living out of quite primitive buildings again and just had sharpened sticks. This time however they seemed to be at quite an accelerated pace of growth. In just a few steps it seemed they had evolved into having some kind of crude guns.
These guns just shot a single bullet. Many of the pictographs showed the hallowed piece of wood that was being used shattered at the end. It seems they were not that reliable of a weapon. This was further followed by other possible designs they were using.
There was yet again another pause. It then seemed to show yet another massive war. The other side had what looked to be tanks with wheels made out of rocks. Most of the pictographs were just frames of red paint.
There was just one last pictograph after that and it showed just a single humanoid all alone with nothing. Perhaps they were the lone survive. You walked along for quite some time but never found another pictograph in the tunnel.
After a couple more hours of walking, you hit a cave-in. This one did not seem possible to get around. The rocks were far too large to move on your own. You just hope there was nothing worth finding behind it. It however just did not seem like it was worth the risk to try and move them aside.
That however did not stop you from trying for at least a little while. You barely got one of the rocks moved before being so exhausted from all the energy spent that you doubled over on the ground for half an hour recovering.
It seems you have two choices to make. You can either go to the right fork in the middle tunnel or head back towards the entryway and then take that right. Either way, both will take a fair amount of walking to get back to that you don’t even recall making after deciding which area you wanted to explore next.
