Sometimes I look at everything happening in the world and I can’t help but wonder how we got to this point, how did people get to this point where human lives don’t matter anymore. How did it become so easy to normalize negative traits? Bad things are slowly ingrained in our society and it gets worse every single day!

The rate at which bad news fly around these days is alarming, you’re trying to get over one bad news the next one hits you and this time it might hit you more than the first one and the circle continues and you’re forced to ask if something is wrong with the human race.

A few days ago I heard a very bad news, my cousin lost her friend to breast cancer, her friend had fought her way through for some time but couldn’t anymore as she wasn’t getting the necessary treatment due to financial issues. She had reached out to her family and friends, some did their best but it still wasn’t enough. She eventually died a few days ago, guess what happened

? Her friends started donating money for her funeral and from what I heard some of those friends didn’t donate a penny when she had reached out to them. The money realized from the donation was so big that it would have gone a long way in solving part of her medical bills. It was so sad to see how things had turned out.

While I listened to my cousin narrate this sad story all I could think of was how poverty could end someone’s life.

People are so poor that they can barely get by every day, I know movies depict these things but have you seen a very poor person with a truckload of problems before? I mean someone who is so poor and can barely eat once a day? It’s heartbreaking to see people struggle for things that you can get without batting an eyelash.

According to the topic for this week's weekly engagement for the Hive Ghana community👇

If you had the power to make the world a better place, what would you do differently? What changes would you make and how do you plan on achieving that.

If I had the power to make the world a better place I would start by doing everything within my power to alleviate poverty. Nobody deserves to wallow in abject poverty. Nobody deserves to be poor in the first place!

If poverty can be removed from the equation the world will be a better place as poverty drives people to do crazy things, it brings out the monster in them that they did not know existed, poverty steals people’s joy and makes them miserable.

When people have the means to provide for themselves they are happy to an extent and crime rates will be reduced as people will focus on how to make more money than risk their lives to do bad things.

Having this my killer plan is not enough but putting in the work and seeing the result is the real deal. In order to achieve this goal of mine I will start by creating a team, a team made up of like-minded individuals who are ready to fight for the same course.

After creating this powerful team, I will start by removing all the bad eggs in power as these bad eggs are the genesis of the problem. Removing them from power would mean me achieving the majority of my goals.

After removing these bad eggs I and my team will start by creating schemes to empower people, any and everybody is invited to join this scheme. No tribalism, nepotism, or favoritism as everyone would be treated equally regardless of their gender, tribe, or status.

Imagine a world without people struggling to eat, a world without people begging on the street, or a world where people do bad things to survive.

Imagine a world where everyone is comfortable, no societal vices just pure love for one another. That’s the type of world I want to live in, that would be my Better Place.
