Hello shoppers, first time here, I have been wanting to post in this #MarketFriday community created by dswigle@dswigle for a while now but I haven鈥檛 had the balls to go to the market to actually take pictures, I feel like people might just end up yelling at me for taking random shots of the market. So while I am on a journey to build my confidence to take pictures in the market I decided to go to a shop to buy some hair products.

I ran out of hair gel at home, I prefer hair gels to hair wax as it helps me to effortlessly lay my edges and I also needed to get a hair extension for my sister, so I decided to make a trip to a hair shop.

On getting to the shop I politely asked the shop owner if I could take pictures of some products in her shop and she said yes and smiled.

I was glad, finally, I was going to take pictures in a shop without the fear of being yelled at, I thought to myself.

The name of the shop is Vees World and it isn't a big shop but they have a handful of hair products available, some of the products sold here are hair extensions, hair relaxers, wool, crotchets, hair gel, hair wax, hair fascinators, shampoos, etc

These are called hair extensions AKA attachments and they cost about $4.14 each which is about 1900 naira over here and this depends on the conversion rate.
This hair extension can be used to make different types of braids like cornrows, micro braids, knotless braids, butterfly braids, etc, it depends on your choice, hair extensions can be used to achieve a lot. Sadly the prices of hair extensions are always increasing, as the prices go up the manufacturers continue to reduce the quantity in each pack, one needs like three packs or two and a half packs of hair extensions to achieve the desired hairstyle.

One amazing thing about hair extensions is that different colours can be mixed to achieve a very cool and unique colour and these colours are numbered, gold is called colour 27, Black is called colour 2, brown is called colour 33 and it goes on like that.

I mixed colour 27 and silver to get this nice colour.

Hair extensions can be styled in different ways.

We have different brands of hair relaxers over here but these two brands cost about $1.08, if you have a light scalp you are advised to use a mild relaxer, relaxers are used to make our hair texture softer, and smoother. For us Africans, the texture of our hair is usually kinky(curly) to an extent and this makes combing through painful so a lot of people use hair relaxers to achieve a softer and smoother hair texture.

Hair wax or edge control is used to style or lay the baby hairs around our hairlines. It allows you to create some little curls on your hairlines and it can be so beautiful if properly laid, I am a big fan of well-laid edges.
This particular brand costs $10.81 which is about 6000 naira but they are other cheaper brands, it is based on your preference and budget.

I got a hair gel at the shop and it costs $0.6 and does the same job as the edge control.

Brazilian wool

Baby wool

These are wools, wools are used to make braids as well and they come in different colours just like the hair extensions, we have Brazilian wools and baby wools and they look different and I really don't know why it's called Brazillian wool I would have to do some research about it later. Even though wools are cool to use people opt for hair extensions as you can curl, bob, or cut it into beautiful styles. Wools cost about $0.86 which is around 400 naira and this depends on the quality you want.

After buying my hair gel and hair extension, I simply thanked the shop owner and made my way home happily.
