2017년 8월 1일에 비트코인 개선제안BIP 148이 드디어 활성화 되게 됩니다. 이를 통해 비트코인 스케일링 분쟁이 유저가 활성화한 소프트포크User-Activated Soft Fork (UASF)를 통해 종지부를 찍을 수 있길 바랍니다.
이 유저들은 경제활동을 하는 노드들(예 : 지갑, 거래소, 등) 이며 이들은 이미 작년 11월부터 80% 정도가 세그윗을 자신들의 비트코인 소프트웨어의 일부로 사용해오고 있습니다.
그 날부터는, BIP가 업그레이드 된 노드들은 세그윗을 설치한 채굴자로부터 만들어진 비트코인만 받게 됩니다. BIP 148은 채굴자들이 세그윗으로 업그레이드 했다는 것을 네트워크에 증명하는 표식인 "bit 1" 표식이 없는 블록을 모두 거절하게 될 것입니다. 이 BIP 148의 아이디어는 UASF 프로세스를 뒷받침해줄 커뮤니티를 끌어 들이기위한 노력의 일환입니다.
BIP 148은 "강제적"인 방법으로 비트코인 블록체인을 세그윗에 올리는 것이기 때문에, 8월 1일 이후에 무슨일이 벌어질지는 장담할 수 가 없습니다.

These users are the economical nodes (e.g. wallets, exchanges, etc) of which an estimate of 80% are already been running SegWit as part of their bitcoin software since last November.
BIP 148's rules will go into effect on 1 August.
On the due date, the BIP upgraded nodes will only accept bitcoin coins from miners which have installed SegWit. BIP 148 will reject any block created without the “bit 1” indicator which miners have to show the network that they're ready for SegWit.The idea of BIP 148 is an effort to get the community behind a UASF process.
Because BIP 148 is a “forced” way to get the bitcoin blockchain on SegWit, it is not sure what is going to happen on and after 1 August.
