It was Malaysia Day on Saturday, we are proud of our country, with harmonious citizens of many races and culture. Happy 66th Day, Malaysia! 馃嚥馃嚲 We decided to still pay our Aunt a visit, just did not want her to be alone. Let's!
At Aunt's
She said today was special day, although it was Malaysia day, maybe we should eat some famous Malaysian food like 'nasi lemak' and 'roti canai', but she did not fancy those food, nasi lemak was too spicy for her and she did not prefer coconut milk on rice too. She said the dough used for 'roti canai' may not be easy on her digestive system.
She cooked us Western Food!
Our Sumptuous Lunch!
Here was the spread of our lunch. We had fried chicken fillet, fried prawns, mashed potatoes pancake, steamed carrots with peas and fresh cherry tomatoes. Delicious, right?
Chicken Fillet!
Before we arrived at Aunt's, we were guessing in the car on what food would be served. The boys actually were hoping for fried chicken fillet and fried prawns and they really had their wish come true. The fried chicken fillet by my Aunt was super delicious. She actually fillet them from chicken breast, simply seasoned with salt and pepper, then pan fried with after coating with seasoned flour. This round, she skipped the bread crumbs coating. Still delicious. The fried prawns, undoubtedly, thumbs-up! Love love love this dish.
Potatoes Pancake
She said she almost forgotten about this dish and surprisingly she woke up thinking about this dish which she cooked quite often for the expatriates family she worked with yearssss ago. It is mashed potatoes pancake, supposedly mixed the mashed potatoes with minced beef, before deep fried them into potatoes pancakes. But she couldn't buy beef so she substituted with minced pork. Also, instead of deep fried in wok full of oil, she decided to pan fry, less oil needed and healthier. This was so so so good. Buttery mashed potatoes with flavorful minced pork at the center, pan fried well with some crisp on the outer layer and buttery mashed potatoes when you bite. We loved it so much. Aunt said she would cook this often. Yayyy!
Steamed vegetables and tomatoes
These was for side dishes. Simply steamed the cubed carrots and peas with no seasoning at all, the vegetables had their own sweetness. Also, some fresh cherry tomatoes for me because the boys did not fancy. Yums!
After our lunch, I still had 30 minutes to laze around, so Aunt asked me to bring her to nearby bank for money withdrawal. While the boys played at home and enjoying some sweet treats. Aunt told me that she wished our country will be better in all sense.
Right after tuition, in the evening, husband decided to bring us to our favourite spot called Lucky Star to watch badminton competition because Malaysian team was playing. Yuhooo!!! Anyway, we lost. It was a tight fight, and everyone played well.
Here, I ordered a bowl of liver soup, to be shared with my husband. My eldest son ordered a plate of fried salted egg chicken with rice. We ordered a lot of drinks to kill time while watching badminton.
My brother and his family also came later to join us. We ate and chit-chatted, hang out with them and that's how we concluded our Saturday to celebrate Malaysia Day!!! May my country continues to be blessed with wise government and harmonious people, continue to grow and prosper.
