A creature that soars through the sky and flings crystal shards from its body at anyone unfortunate enough to get in its way. These crystalline missiles splinter and crack upon impact, ricocheting into everything nearby and inflicting devastating damage
Hello Splinterlands Community!
Welcome to another Share your Battle Weekly Challenge featuring the creature made by Uul from dead rocks, non other than the Gem Meteor which is rarely seen in the battlefield.
For those who are new to my post, I usually post information which is related in the Silver League Modern Format.
When the cosmos was borne into creation and the stars were placed into the heavens, everything had its place and travellers crossed the known worlds by the shapes they had joined together in the sky. As centuries passed, some of these stars were destroyed, either striking other objects or simply their light dying away, obliterated into tiny pieces. Meteors lit up the night for evermore, tracing lines in the blackness as they shot through the sky.
Astronomers have studied this phenomenon for many years and attribute the trailing light to a gathering of crystal dust upon the meteor. A crystal that holds great value when it falls to the land and is acquired by the people. But then chaos arrived, angry that mortals should benefit from such riches thrown from the heavens. Uul breathed life into these dead rocks and created the Gem Meteor, a creature that soars through the sky and flings crystal shards from its body at anyone unfortunate enough to get in its way. These crystalline missiles splinter and crack upon impact, ricocheting into everything nearby and inflicting devastating damage. Sometimes the meteorites descend into such a frenzy that they become completely indiscriminate about who or what they fire their shards at.
Gem Meteor is an epic card from the neutral splinter which specialize in range damage.
One thing that is very noticeable in this card is its high speed and the scattershot ability which bypasses the taunt ability.
Looking at the lower league, Gem Meteor might not be a good card because it only deals 1 range damage, however starting from Silver league its range damage become usable as it increase its range damage to 2 in the silver league, 3 in the gold league and 4 in the diamond and champion league.
The piercing ability is also a good addition against armored monsters in order for the high range damage to penetrate the armor.
In terms of summoner, I would say that there are two summoners that currently exist is very compatible with Gem Meteor. Yodin Zaku is the best summoner to pair with Gem Meteor due to its additional range damage and blast ability which enhance Gem Meteor stats and General Sloan which also boost Gem Meteor attack.
However, there are quite a lot of summoners as well that may weaken Gem Meteor such as Ilthain, Contessa L'ament, Mimosa Nightshade and Quix the Devious.
| Yodin Zaku's boost to range damage, health and blast ability provides a great boost to Gem Meteor as it will enhance Gem Meteor attack and with the scattershot ability, the blast ability can be able to damage both adjacent opponents from the backline. | |
| Another card which can boost Gem Meteor attack and since there are lineup in the Life monsters which have high speed range unit and together with Time Mage and Supply Runner, Gem Meteor would be a good addition especially with the Explosive ruleset. | |
| This maybe a rare combination but with the lost magic and keep your distance ruleset together, Fernheart is the best option in order for the range unit to attack in the frontline which helps Gem Meteor to deal damage even in the frontline. |
In terms of monsters, I believe that tank monsters are good to have while Gem Meteor is in the frontline. There are some range monsters that might affect Gem Meteor performance though.
| Ash Mirage is a great range unit but it will affect Gem Meteor's performance due to the headwinds ability it possess. It can decrease the attack of Gem Meteor. Ash Mirage however is a good card with Gem Meteor especially with Yodin Zaku as both of this card have high speed. | |
| Countess Sinash with the swift ability can further boost Gem Meteor's speed and together with Yodin Zaku, the range attack deals by Sinash and Gem Meteor is devastating. | |
| Runemancer Atuat is one of the legendary card in riftwatcher that can affect range damage of range unit monsters including Gem Meteor. This card is use as well in the reverse speed which opposed Gem Meteor high speed. | |
| Another Riftwatcher card with the headwind ability and can even attack in the frontline. Dealing with this card with Mimosa Nightshade or Contessa L'ament as the summoner will really weaken Gem Meteor's range attack. | |
| In high level, Lira the dark is almost the same with Countess Sinash which gives speed boost to Gem Meteor. However there is no summoner currently in the death Splinter that boost range attack. | |
| Last but not the least, a neutral summoner which is the same with Gem Meteor which gives additional boost to the speed. Normally this card can go with Gem Meteor to build a strong fast range unit. Imagine a Yodin Zaku with Gem Meteor, Supply Runner, Countess Sinash and Ash Mirage backline lineup. |
There are quite a lot of ruleset that is very applicable with Gem Meteor. However, below are the ruleset that I think the most suitable for Whistling Damon.
| Gem Meteor with the range attack is great in back to basic especially when the mana capacity is low as this card only cost 5 mana but with a high speed. | |
| Gem Meteor can benefit in this ruleset as well because as the round goes by and Gem Meteor's allies have been defeated, Gem Meteor can attack in the frontline to possibly win the match. | |
| Gem Meteor do have a high speed and a scattershot ability. With Explosive Weaponry ruleset these two fundamentals are boosted up by this ruleset dealing damages in the target's adjacent allies. |
Take note of these ruleset that could affect Gem Meteor's performance:
Modifications: Back to Basics, Odd Ones Out
Mana Cap: 54
Playable Splinters: Fire, Water and Death
In this battle, Gem Meteor is a good addition to the team because of the ruleset is back to basics and odd ones out which are both good with Gem Meteor. My lineup in this is a pure range damage as I am expecting Thaddius Brood could affect magic units and I've focus on the high damage with high health monsters.
Let's do the battle analysis per round:
Checking the line-up of my opponent. Legionnaire Alvar seems to be a good in the frontline because of his high armor then followed by Pelacor Deceiver with high health but cannot attack in this position. This means that there is a 1 monster that is idle and won't participate in the battle. Next is Insidious Warlock and Life Sapper which deals magic damage but is affected by Thaddius Brood then Dhampir Stalker and Gargoya Devil dealing range damage however at a much lower level because of a low level summoner.
In this round, first to attack is the highest speed which is Lira the Dark then followed by Gem Meteor then Dhampir Stalker, Soul Stranger and Queen of Crows for a total of 14 range damage equivalent to the armor and health of Legionnaire Alvar resulting to his defeat. Then a 5 melee attack towards Pelacor Deceiver completing the first round.
From 5 armor and 7 health of Night Ghoul, it absorbs enemies attack and surviving the first round with 7 health remaining.
The sequence of attack from the 1st round will be the same in the 2nd round but without the tank, the opponent's unit will fall one by one on the range attack. Lira defeated Pelacor Deceiver, Gem Meteor and Soul Strangler defeated Insidious Warlock, Dhampir Stalker defeated Life Sapper and Queen of Crows and Night Ghoul defeated opponent's Dhampir Stalker.
The 2nd round sealed the outcome of the battle with Lira destroying Gargoya Devil's armor and Gem Meteor launching the final blow.
Gem Meteor may not be usually appears in the battlefield but this card may have a use especially going in a full range unit damage. This card is even very great with Yodin Zaku with the range fire splinters.
If I only have Yodin Zaku in my deck, then I would love to have a Grum in the frontline, followed by Lava Launcher, Gem Meteor, Ash Mirage, Countess Sinash and Tinderlock.
In my case, Gem Meteor as a neutral monsters would be useful when using Fire, Life or Death Splinter.
How do you think Gem Meteor is?
