In a large city, it gets even more important to check on the biological activity going on in the building, especially if you are getting a furnished apartment.
What I am getting at is: Is it new furniture or used.
If it's used, I would never move in to begin with until I was 100% positive it did not have one single itty bitty chance of bedbugs.
Even 5 star hotels have bedbugs by the way, and, it has nothing to do with "being clean".
They are attracted to your breath (carbon dioxide) and furniture is a favorite spot for them as people sit, breathing, in the same spot.
One tactic is to google the building and put in the words bedbugs because, regardless of how "classy" a place is, does not mean it can't have an infestation.
And people definitely, in a lot of cases will post complaints about this type of stuff so others don't have to suffer like they did from others used furniture.
