That all depends on you.

Alcohol has been shown to be healthy if one drinks 6 oz or less daily. Less seems to be better.

See, alcohol, when one is really healthy and full of good brain neurochemicals, actually will make you feel really crappy of you take in more than a certain amount.

There are many factors but let's just take the fact that it is a super sugar.

Unlike many other drugs (alcohol is a drug...just as food is a drug. Look up the definition) Alcohol drives the production of multiple neurochemicals.

Serotonin, what I refer to as our "peace" molecule, is produced mainly (80+%) in the gut, through the breakdown of...sugar/carbohydrate. This is why many alcoholics and opioid addicts love chocolate...serotonin is actually their "neurochemical" of choice.

If it only made serotonin, then that might be ok, but alcohol also induces the production of dopamine, which is our "get stuff done/reward" molecule.

It takes more than carbohydrates to make that one.

Lots more. Including direct photons to your eyeballs. E=mc2 you see, means if you slow down light, you MAKE things. Like dopamine.

You also make dopamine by draining your body's stores of other components if it's not running on its main light supply.

So, as we get into drinking more heavily, our biology begins to realise that it's "in danger" but, we love the initial feeling so much, we just keep drinking. If we have a problem with ourselves that is.

Deep ones we don't want to think about and definitely don't want to feel.

Not everyone though, some, like some sentenarians in the blues zones that drink every day. But usually just one drink. Before bed for example, in the evening, with one cigarette. It's a ritual, you see and not an addiction.

Short answer. It's All individual. Moderation seems for most the best road. Others can't touch a drink. You can get bloodworm done to see if your health is degrading over time and adjust from there. But, if you are not able to stop, then, for you, the answer is...it's not healthy. Just common sense.
