How DO we keep negatives thoughts from entering our minds?
Well, we can't really.
I was thinking about this "negative commentary" that the majority of humans seem to suffer from.
You can read in many sources that psychologists estimate the average persons thoughts are 80-90 percent negative and repetitive.
I know that at a certain point, I became acutely aware of the "grinding" I used to do.
Going over interactions with people that were most likely never going to happen, mentally mashing myself about habits that seemed out of my control.
I still think about stuff like that.
It's greatly reduced in volume though, and I see it almost immediately.
And now, as is happening with many others, I don't mind the commentary, and, I find it amusing for the most part.
I actually really like the guy in my head, and, just like others that apparently have suffered from the "torture of the ego" to put it another way, those that suffer the most, many times end up being the most joyful and mentally cerene.
So, next time you hear the negativity coming on, really listen.
And then, realise that most of it, is just noise.
Our modern world has our biology jacked up, our adrenals pumping, cortisol levels spiked, and our amygdala amped.
This magnifies the negativity that we see in any situation.
So, here are some this you can do to distract yourself, calm your biology and wait for the storm to pass.
Take a course in alpha meditation.
No, not a silly cd for ten bucks.
One that I used and still do, is called the silva life system.
"The long relax" exercise is awesome for learning to totally calm yourself; mentally and physically.
Get outside.
Be in nature and begin each day, not with your phone, but with yourself, outside, watching the sun rise.
Your brain chemistry is an important factor in your thought processes.
Am sunlight starts you off in a positive way.
