Valencia welcomed Barcelona at their home stadium in Liga Santander. Barcelona were in desperate need of three points to finish in the top four spots on the table. Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are currently on the same point on the table, but Barcelona goal difference is keeping them ahead of Atletico.
Barcelona took the lead in the 23rd minute. Jordi Alba, sent a perfect long ball behind Valencia defence leaving Aubameyang running down the defence with the ball. the Gabonese International made no mistake as he fired the ball into the top corner of the goalpost, scoring his first goal for the club. Barcelona still looking dangerous and scored another goal in the 32nd minute. Jordi Alba again played in another long ball to Dembele who laid out a pass to the Dutch International Frenkie De Jong with a tap in and he made it two for Barcelona.
Barcelona was not done yet as they scored 8 minutes later. Gavi and Dembele with a perfect pass to each other before Gavi played a low cross into the box found Aubameyang. Tthe Gabonese tap the ball into the goalpost scoring his first brace for the club, Barcelona now led with three goals. Luck was not on Valencia side as the VAR call-off their goal. During their build up the ball went out of play, the goal had to be cancelled.
The second half started with Valencia getting a goal back. Bryan from Valencia played a cross from the left side into the box and Carlos Soler was there to receive the ball as he heads it into the goalpost. It didn't take long before Barcelona respond with another goal. Pedri fired a shot outside the box. The ball deflected at the back of Aubameyang, and the referee gave the goal to Aubameyang making it the third goal of the night for the Gabonese international.
Valencia was unable to score any more goals as the match ended. Barcelona took all three points and are back in the top four on the Liga table. Real Betis are leading with four points ahead of the Catalans. Barcelona needs to win more matches and hopes both Atletico and Real Betis lose points. Things are looking clear now that Xavi is getting the team back on their feet after a horrible beginning to the season. There is still a lot of work to be done but I can say for sure Barcelona is going to come back stronger and better, time will tell soon.
The UCL and ECL will be back this week, Manchester United vs Atletico Madrid will be going down this Sunday. Atletico needs to be worried about Ronaldo, he has been the one kicking them out of the competition since he was in Real Madrid and I'm sure Ronaldo will be at his best. Barcelona has to not let their guard down as they will be flying to Napoli home stadium for the second leg of the Europa League this Thursday, it's going to be a busy week of football, won't want to miss out on this one.
