Greetings to all chess fans. I've been losing games on time on lichess site recently. I'm rather quick so I was puzzled why I was losing. I found out that lichess is lagging for me that was causing my time trouble. So now, I'm playing live on chess.com. The game I played features a piece sacrifice for an attack. It's particularly fun to play in blitz because it's easier to play when you're on the attack rather than defending.
The game started with 1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. exd5 cxd5
Caro-Kann Exchange variation. It's easy for black to equalize. 4. Nf3 Nf6 5. h3
White's last move prevents a pin on his f3 knight. There were better choices like Bg5 or Bd3 to prevent black's Bf5. 5. ...Bf5 6. c4
White likes to open up the position but his last move could leave him with an isolated d-pawn after dxc4. 6. ...e6 7. cxd5 exd5 8. Bb5+ Nbd7 9. Qe2+ Be7 10. Ne5 a6 11. Bxd7+
White gives up the bishop pair which are ideal in open position. 11. ...Nxd7 12. O-O O-O 13. Re1 Bd6 14. Nxd7 Qxd7 15. Be3
We reached the position in the above. I was thinking how to capitalize on the bishop pair when I found the sacrifice on h3. 15. ...Bxh3 16. gxh3 Qxh3 17. f4 Rfe8
The rook will join the attack. Black won in a few more moves. 18. Qf2 Re6 19. f5 Re4 20. Qf1 Qh2# 0-1

Playing chess is great for the mind but let's not forget about physical activities. I recently committed to exercise and to keep me motivated, I joined actifit.io
