Every time I scroll in my TikTok FYP account, I often see videos of boys flexing their biceps or working in the gym with a background promotional track of SZA. That's how society describes a so-called "Big Boy." It was a popular trend in TikTok before when those boys were proud of their continuous discipline, but some might be doing it for a thirst trap. I thought the song was on Spotify, but I discovered that SNL only wrote it for fun. It became viral because of the different renditions, specifically dance, and those entries I saw on YouTube below.
In music videos or movies, "boys" are often used when a girl is obsessed with a boy and wants to tease them. I always hear that word in sexy videos, and I know that word was also used for K-Pop concepts like "Hype Boy" by NewJeans and "The Boys" by Girls' Generation. Conversely, when a guy wants to fulfill her fantasies, he will respond with "Baby Girl" or endearments with the word "Girl". That's why many people normalize participating in cheating issues because they think doing it is a sign that they are "tunay na lalaki" or "a real man" in English.
In my perspective, being a man doesn't reflect on your sex appeal, physical appearance, or your age. You might say that we can't call a seven-year-old a man because of his age, but we can't assume a grown-up guy is a man if he doesn't know how to act according to his age. Maybe a ripped guy you see on social media has that sex appeal, but he might be secretly involved or flirting with other girls instead of her girlfriend. Classifying a man depends on their mindset and maturity, not only because of the particular qualities I aforementioned. By the way, here are some thoughts on how a man should act in society.

Whether you are a man or a woman, you should know how to respect people despite differences in nationality, color, race, or other factors. I can't call you a man if you are still making fun of others or arguing with others as if you think you are superior because of your age. You're not already a kid to reprimand what's wrong or right. Always remember that joke is different from insulting. Although you are not straight but act mature, you are still a good representation of a man.

In Philippine culture, being a man reflects on those who know how to be responsible husbands or sons to their families. Like a famous fictional superhero said, "With great power comes great responsibility." Those conservative old Filipino women once said that if you know how to do household chores and have future plans, you can be considered a real man. Someone can be characterized as a man if he always prioritizes their family over his wants. By the way, I didn't say that we should forget to treat ourselves since we only want to spend our time being responsible. This part only messages those boys that being a real guy comes with full responsibility.
In conclusion, acting like a man doesn't reflect on his age, physical appearance, or even sex appeal. It depends on how they respect everyone and are responsible for their action. That's all, and I hope you like my entry even for a bit.
