Arm wrestling with Poloniex since May, enough is enough!
It took five months of emails and trouble tickets and... No, I don't have my money back from Poloniex! But as I said in and earlier post, I have a human working on it.
This post is about the DEX ! The decentralized exchange known as Openledger, where you keep a small stock of bts (bitshares coin) in your account to pay fees for trades, and you trade everything from bitcoin to dash, to rubles and euros. It all works with smart contracts, but you never really see what's under the hood. Just trade. Borrow money if you like. And it all runs (on Linux) from one file called bitshares_version.x.x.AppImage
I never thought I would see the day - no dependencies, or problems, terminal windows, sudo this or that...
Fits great in the corner of my screen too!
It's sad that we need to fight so hard to have our own property, keep the noses of elected leaders out of our business and get them to manage theirs better.
So as the boot of government stomps down harder on the necks of (fill in country name) based exchanges, we unplug from the matrix and try to live free.
The blockchain
Very clean. This looks a lot like steend.com (where we go to see who has voted on us and with what percentage).
But, the Bitshares blockchain is all but an exchange. If you click a symbol, it will show not only charts, but also "buy" orders and "sell" orders along with who is buying and selling. I have never seen anything so in depth.
Then if you see someone you know, you can click on their username and see what they traded recently. I admit that I still have to learn to vote and get signed up on the forum, but one day at a time.
One Problemthat I have been experiencing is with referring people. This is important because I am switching my client base to Openledger. I have sat at many tables with many people and watched as they try to sign up using my referral link. No dice. We get to the part where you copy your owner key and click the check boxes that it is written and secured... Click "Next" and... wait... the everlasting wait, and wait. Is it doing anything? Then at home, I let a sign up go for 2 days. Nothing.
Why Bitshares?
As bitcoin spikes and slumps, I have people calling and messaging me to buy coins. "Is tomorrow okay?"
I answer and we set a time to meet. Then they don't show or they call to cancel. I look as I am sitting there, stood up again. Sure enough, bitcoin has risen $1000 and they don't want to buy when the price is so high.
I get it! And the answer is Bitshares.
Now I am selling bitUSD to all the regular buyers
They come. They show up. They don't have to worry about the price fluctuations. This is the main benefit for me and the list of people who like dealing with me. Business has been a pleasure lately!
