Existence is suffering, and happiness is ever fleeting. There is not a human in the world who does not suffer in one way or another. There is not a single human who knows happiness on a regular basis. Happiness is an idea, it is a concept, not a state of being. The mistake of man is not that he seeks to become happy but that he mistakes happiness for something substantial. There is nothing substantial about happiness. If one seeks to know a state of bliss then one should look for contentment in small things. It is always the smaller things that we overlook, where the state of being content lies. Contentment, unlike happiness, is a true state of being. The greatest way to achieve this is through the act of being grateful. When one is grateful they find joy in things others may not, weather it be a sunrise, the sound of birds, the feeling of grass beneath your feet, the crisp winter air, or the breaths you take; letting you know you are alive... In these small moments you may find contentment. You must search for what is there, not what could be or what has been, the present is all you have, all you ever will have. If man does not focus on what he has in the present, he will never be grateful for anything, and therefore, never content.
