3 Best Female Latin Rappers
In a musical genre marked by competition, violent lyrics, sexism and strong messages, men have a strong predominance in the scene. However, talent or knowledge is not a man's thing and in the case of rap, women like Lauryn Hill or Missy Elliot revolutionized the industry.
In our Latin Rap we also have rappers who have earned a place in the movement, due to the high level of their material. From the historical Ariana Puello in Spain Who in the 90's opened the doors to that female audience, through Actitud María Marta in Argentina and Apolonia in Venezuela forming part of the group of the pioneer of rap, the genre in Spanish has been fed also by female exponents.
Here is a selection of my favorite female rappers in our Latin Rap:
Melymel
a.k.a Da Marmalade, is in my opinion the best female rapper in the Dominican Republic. Privileged with a bestial flow that allows her to sound perfectly in all the rhythms she has used, and excellent lyrics loaded with very good punchlines, Melymel has walked in all styles of Rap, from the competition and beef (where she has left graceful in all its rounds) until the romantic content. Additionally, he has a beautiful voice that allows him to sing choruses and even other genres without complications.
Llegamos
Gabylonia
Figure of the Venezuelan Rap, of the most consistent in the scene. From his first appearance with 4to Poder in the song "Poder en el cuarto" in 2000, until now, Gaby has been a protagonist of the Venezuelan movement. His tireless work and great talent, lead her to collaborate with the best of the Venezuelan hip hop and Cuban and the famous Spanish band Jarabe de Palo. Gabilonia is a carrier of great fluency on the instrument and lyrics with a lot of message, able to play very well with the rhythms while you spit out the verses very well worked.
Lavoe
SteffiCrown
It is a new Colombian talent. I came to his music several days ago and he completely caught me. It brings a Trap sound quite influenced by the r&b and soul, an aesthetic that gives it an aura of darkness, and lyrics that tend to spirituality. "Figlia di papa" was my favorite among her available repertoire, where she makes a tremendous flow show. Enjoy it.
