I've been fascinated by how the world really works for many years now. You could say that I took the 'red pill' when I was in university more than 10 years ago.
After the collapse of the markets in 2007/08 I was left to investigate how the world monetary system works. To say that I was shocked about how the petrodollar and central banking worked left me shocked and angry is an understatement. The fact that central banks print money into existence and lend it to the population at interest was something that never occurred to me.
This led me to gold and silver. I was intrigued by the fact that the value of money used to be contained in the actual money. This seemed to make a lot more sense than the funny money that we have today in the form of notes (what Americans would call bills) and coins made of common metals with little intrinsic value.
have been lurking on this reddit for quite a while, but today I felt like I really needed to get this off my chest. Short summary was that I missed out on the bitcoin train since it was in the early 2010s, though I did discovered it in 2013 around the peak of the height, I was skeptical and did not buy in. One way or another, there was a price crash and it did not fully recover till 2016. Fast forward to last year, I had some bitcoin paid from my work, and I was determined not to miss the train this time, and I happened to saw ethereum on coinbase, saw potential in it and was ready to buy it. One thing led to another and my coinbase account had some issues and I didn't buy any ethereum. I was prepared to vest about $10,000 USD June 2017, when I realised what a big mistake I had made, missing out potential profits of about $300,000 which would be pretty significant for me. Now I toss in bed everything, thinking what could have been, every waking moments of my life thinking about this which does affect my attention on my job. I have bought in some ethereum again and holding for the foreseeable future while sitting on some gains, but I can't get over this. "Wished I had just went ahead and bought", "Wished I had discovered this reddit earlier to convince myself to buy the ether" are what I have in my thoughts everyday. And the worse thing is that, I am a techie so I have a great understanding of the potentials and was in the best position to take advantage of this just like when the Internet was a thing similar to the dawn of crypto-currency. My questions are: 1. How should I get over this regret of not getting in early? I can't sleep and I think about this every waking moment of my live. The regret is really strong in my mind and it affects me deeply. 2. Now I have another problem. I check the prices compulsively, the reddit forums almost a dozens times a day reading almost every posts. How do I get over this? 3. How did you even know the existence or saw the potential of ethereum even with the amount of crypto currency out there. I used to think that litecoin was the alternative of bitcoin when ethereum wasn't even a thing, and I'm stunned by how a new currency from 2014 came out of the blue to overtake bitcoin in just 3 years when other currency couldn't accomplish it. The irony is that I'm a Hacker News reader reading the cutting edge technology news and I wasn't informed of this. 4. First up, I believe in the potential of ethereum, but I do believe change is eternal, there will always be new technology that could potentially surpass or complement current tech just like how ETH surpassed BTC. What news or resources do you read to stay up to date with these new tech? Just like how you learn about ethereum when bitcoin was still the big thing?
Thank you for any help and onwards to the moon.
