To say oh people got upset when the printing press arrived and being unable to fathom it's not not the same thing, not by a long, long shot.
I hate that argument. People feel so clever when they throw it around. We're just not afraid of progress. I've forgotten who it was that made the argument that we primarily use the word "progressive" to mean bad things - a progressive form of cancer, for instance. And yet, we seem keen on sacrificing everything on the altar of progressive technology. Odd.
