While my apartment won't actually be free and furnishable for a couple of weeks yet, I've started browsing furniture store, being a fairly organized person. I like to know where my future bed is coming from, for instance, which I think would just be adding confusion in the future, left unchecked.
Now, you wouldn't think it so damn hard, finding a bed. Not the kind I want, anyway. I'm just looking for four damn wooden pallets, which shouldn't be hard to achieve, yet apparently remain elusive.
I spent much of yesterday browsing furniture websites...in horror.
This one's built under teenager/young people rooms, which I'm not sure if I still qualify as. Not sure I want to, either. I do appreciate that it's saying in the bottom corner that it comes both with buttons or a 'crystal' option if you're looking for added bling. Because, how could you go with this otherwise bland, discreet manic red? xD

Which obviously, I would jump at in a heartbeat. They have a store just a few streets down and we stopped in the other day. It's full of the most garish, distasteful, pimpy attire. I expect in that world, it's commendable or at the very least the norm to have your acquaintances walk in the door, under the full knowledge of your trade.
"Oh, I see by the bedframe John is a pimp. Yes, that makes sense."
They actually have this also in rich green, but sadly the picture won't load. Marginally more acceptable, but who needs that big a headboard? Is it suddenly passe to put a tasteful decoration over your bed, a dreamcatcher, or mayhaps even...nothing at all? Are there people who go into a room and go "that's a fuckton of wall, we better do something about that"?
Headboards, admittedly are tricky. I loathe the smallish ones that stick into your back when you sit up, but surely, this is enough for a giant to sit in comfortably. More than enough.
Admittedly, the first one the website sent me to. Really, if this kinda thing is your best foot forward...
Mind you, some of these websites do seem to have, at some point, offered simple wooden beds. You know, basic, average beds. But they're long outta stock, and rather than replenishing stock, it seems they've opted for peddling beds like the ones above. Probably got them in stock anyway, so now gotta push them like spoilt fish on a Monday.
Either that, or they've got them in absurd sizes that you can't find a mattress for.
Much to my disappointment, this seems to lead me back to Ikea, which I seem to recall bashing in a previous post. Yet, at least in this part of the world, they seem to be offering the only furniture that's vaguely more minimalist and tasteful.
You'd think you find this sort of thing on every damn corner. It can't be that difficult to build, right?
Anyway, I'm probably be heading into Ikea later today to have a look around, at least. Kinda disappointed. I woulda thought the bed, simple as my wishes are, was gonna be the easiest part. If that's the truth, I'm fucked about the couch, aren't I? Then again, I could always opt for the purple one. It's a set!
